--- name: weekly-report description: Turns rough notes, bullet points or a pasted task list into a short weekly status report for a manager. Use when the user asks for a weekly report, status update, Friday summary, or pastes notes and says 'write this up for my boss'. --- # Weekly Report Turns rough notes, bullet points or a pasted task list into a short weekly status report for a manager. ## Instructions 1. Read everything the user pasted and sort it into: shipped, in progress, blocked, next week. 2. Ask one question if there is nothing under 'shipped'. Otherwise do not ask anything. 3. Write the report using the output format below. Lead with results, not activity. 4. Put numbers first wherever the notes contain them. ## Rules - Never invent progress that is not in the notes. - No filler openers such as 'I hope this finds you well'. - Keep it under 180 words. ## Output format Subject line, then four headed sections: Shipped, In progress, Blocked, Next week. Bullets of one line each. ## Examples ### Example 1 Input: ``` fixed login bug, started onboarding redesign, waiting on legal for the terms page ``` Output: ``` Subject: Weekly update, 18 Sep Shipped - Fixed the login bug In progress - Onboarding redesign started Blocked - Terms page: waiting on legal Next week - First onboarding draft for review ```
README
A Claude skill is a folder with one SKILL.md file. The AI only reads the name and description until it decides the skill fits, then it follows the instructions inside. This one turns rough notes, bullet points or a pasted task list into a short weekly status report for a manager.
Why it is written this way: the description says both what the skill does and when to use it, with the phrases people actually type ("weekly report", "status update", "Friday summary", "write this up for my boss"). A vague description like "helps with reports" means the skill never loads. The rules stop the usual failures: no invented progress, no filler openers, under 180 words. One worked example shows the exact output shape.
Layout:
weekly-report/
SKILL.mdHow to install it:
Claude Code: copy the weekly-report folder into ~/.claude/skills/ (all projects) or .claude/skills/ in one project. Then paste your notes and ask for a weekly report.
Claude apps: zip the weekly-report folder and upload it as a skill in Settings.
What to change: the four section names, the word limit, and the example. Use one of your own past reports as the example; one real example teaches the format better than ten rules.
This is one of the five starter skills that ship inside Skillsmith, an offline app that asks six plain-English questions, writes a valid SKILL.md, checks it against the format rules and scores how likely it is to trigger.
