Unix timestamp converter.
Turn any timestamp into a real date in any time zone, or any date into a timestamp, in one paste. It tells seconds from milliseconds for you, so you never ship the off-by-1000 bug that puts your dates in 1970, and it builds all 9 Discord timestamp codes with live previews, ready to copy. Daylight saving is handled for every zone and date.

Timestamp to date
Seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds. We detect which.
Date to timestamp
Pick a date and time in any time zone.
Discord timestamps
Paste the code into any Discord message. Each reader sees it in their own time zone and language. Preview below uses your browser's language.
How it works
- A unix timestamp counts seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 1970, ignoring leap seconds (POSIX, "Seconds Since the Epoch"). It is the same number everywhere on Earth; only the way you display it changes with time zone.
- Seconds or milliseconds? JavaScript's
Date.now()and Java'sSystem.currentTimeMillis()return milliseconds;date +%s, Python'sint(time.time())and most APIs and databases use seconds. Today a seconds timestamp has 10 digits and a milliseconds one has 13. We read up to 11 digits as seconds, up to 14 as milliseconds, up to 17 as microseconds and anything longer as nanoseconds, and we say which we picked. - Time zones come from your browser's built-in time zone database (the IANA zones), so daylight saving time is handled for every date, past or future.
- Discord formats a timestamp written as
<t:SECONDS:STYLE>; the timestamp must be in seconds. The 9 styles and their meanings are from Discord's message formatting docs, checked Oct 23, 2026.fis the default when you leave the style out.
FAQ
How do I make a Discord timestamp?
Pick the date and time above (in your time zone), then copy one of the codes, for example <t:1798761600:F>, into a Discord message. Every reader sees it converted to their own time zone. Use :R for a countdown like "in 3 hours".
What are the Discord timestamp styles?
t short time, T medium time (with seconds), d short date, D long date, f long date with short time (the default), F full date with weekday, s short date with short time, S short date with medium time, and R relative time.
How do I convert a unix timestamp to Eastern time (EST/EDT)?
Paste the timestamp above and press New York (ET). Eastern time is UTC-5 in winter (EST) and UTC-4 in summer (EDT); the converter uses the right one for that exact date.
Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?
Count the digits. Dates between 2001 and 2286 have 10 digits in seconds and 13 in milliseconds. If a date comes out in 1970, you probably passed seconds to something that expects milliseconds; if it is tens of thousands of years away, the other way round.
What is the year 2038 problem?
Systems that store the timestamp as a signed 32-bit integer run out at 2147483647, which is 03:14:07 UTC on January 19, 2038, and wrap to 1901. 64-bit timestamps do not have this problem. Paste 2147483647 above to see it.
How do I get the current unix timestamp?
date +%s in a shell, Math.floor(Date.now() / 1000) in JavaScript, int(time.time()) in Python, SystemTime::now().duration_since(UNIX_EPOCH) in Rust. Or copy it from the top of this page.
Every JWT carries three of these timestamps
exp, iat and nbf in a JSON Web Token are unix timestamps in seconds. Paste a token into our JWT decoder to see when it was issued and exactly when it expires, decoded offline in your browser.
