Long-context pricing
Short answerLong-context pricing is a higher per-token rate some models charge when a single prompt is longer than a threshold, for example over 100,000 or 200,000 input tokens. The whole request is billed at the higher rate.
Why it matters
It can quietly multiply the cost of document Q&A and coding agents that send big prompts. Splitting or caching the prompt can keep you under the threshold.
Our number
14 of the 67 listed models in our table charge a long-context rate. Example: Claude Haiku 5.5 goes from $0.1 to $0.5 per 1M input tokens once a prompt is over 100,000 tokens.
