TOML
Short answerTOML (Tom's Obvious Minimal Language) is a config file format of keys, values and [tables]. Rust's Cargo.toml, Python's pyproject.toml and many tools use it.
Why it matters
It maps cleanly to a hash table, so it converts to JSON and back without surprises, except for dates and mixed-type arrays.
