What to do
- See which version you have:
cargo tree -i tower-http(it also shows which of your dependencies pulls it in). - Update within your version requirement:
cargo update -p tower-http. If the fix is a newer major or minor than your requirement allows, raise it in Cargo.toml (for exampletower-http = "0.2.1") or update the dependency that pulls it in. - Check again with
cargo audit, or paste your Cargo.lock into our Cargo.toml checker.
Details from the advisory
tower_http::services::fs::ServeDir didn't correctly validate Windows paths meaning paths like /foo/bar/c:/windows/web/screen/img101.png would be allowed and respond with the contents of c:/windows/web/screen/img101.png. Thus users could potentially read files anywhere on the filesystem.
This only impacts Windows. Linux and other unix likes are not impacted by this.
See tower-http#204 for more details.
