Rust error E0263: #### Note: this error code is no longer emitted by the compiler
What it means#### Note: this error code is no longer emitted by the compiler.
Retired: rustc no longer emits this error code. You may still see it in old answers, books and CI logs from older toolchains; the explanation below is kept for reference.
The compiler team's explanation
Note: this error code is no longer emitted by the compiler.
A lifetime was declared more than once in the same scope.
Erroneous code example:
fn foo<'a, 'b, 'a>(x: &'a str, y: &'b str, z: &'a str) { // error!
}
Two lifetimes cannot have the same name. To fix this example, change the second 'a lifetime into something else ('c for example):
fn foo<'a, 'b, 'c>(x: &'a str, y: &'b str, z: &'c str) { // ok!
}From rustc --explain E0263 (1.99.0), part of the Rust project, MIT or Apache-2.0. Official page.
