Rust error E0326: implemented const `BAR` has an incompatible type for trait
What it meansAn implementation of a trait doesn't match the type constraint.
What rustc prints
error[E0326]: implemented const `BAR` has an incompatible type for trait --> main.rs:8:16 | 8 | const BAR: u32 = 5; // error, expected bool, found u32 | ^^^ expected `bool`, found `u32` | note: type in trait --> main.rs:2:16 | 2 | const BAR: bool; | ^^^^
Real output of rustc 1.99.0 compiling the official example below (2021 edition). Your names and line numbers will differ; the first line is the part to match.
The compiler team's explanation
An implementation of a trait doesn't match the type constraint.
Erroneous code example:
trait Foo {
const BAR: bool;
}
struct Bar;
impl Foo for Bar {
const BAR: u32 = 5; // error, expected bool, found u32
}
The types of any associated constants in a trait implementation must match the types in the trait definition.
