App Review Board appeal: what we filed and what came back
The message: Appealing to the App Review Board
Short answerYou appeal a rejection through Apple's App Review appeal form (Contact Us, App Review, appeal). The form takes at most 5 apps and 2,000 characters per reason. We filed three appeals covering 11 apps on October 5, 2026. As of October 24, 2026 our inbox has no reply from the App Review Board. Apple's 30-minute App Review appointments are the faster channel to a human.
Why it happens
Appeals are for when you believe the app follows the guidelines and the reviewer misread it. Apple asks for "specific reasons why you believe your app complies". For a policy disagreement (you think the rule is wrong), Apple has a separate guideline suggestion channel.
When we hit it
Our argument: all 11 apps were rejected within one minute with word-for-word identical text, so no individual review had happened, and we asked for a person to open each app. Three forms (5 + 5 + 1). Apple's 2025 App Store Transparency Report counts 26,305 appeals of app removals and 423 restorations (about 1.6%); it does not publish appeal outcomes for rejections.
Fix, step by step
- One appeal per app or small group; be specific (dates, timestamps, what the reviewer could not have seen).
- Stay under 2,000 characters per reason.
- Do not resubmit unchanged while the appeal is open.
- In parallel, request a Meet with Apple App Review appointment.
