A free focus timer that keeps you company

Focus is a free online focus timer with a pair of eyes that watch you while you work. Pick 25, 50 or 90 minutes (or open-ended), slide to start, and the eyes stay with you: they blink, glance around, look proud when you have been going a while and look suspicious if you switch tabs.

It is the web version of Minder, our iPhone app for body doubling. Same eyes, same idea: it is easier to keep working when someone is watching.

        How to use it

        1. Choose a plan: open-ended, 25, 50 or 90 minutes, and a tag (Work, Study, Read, Write or Create).
        2. Slide the arrow to the right, or press it. The eyes take over the screen.
        3. Work. A gentle chime checks in every 25 minutes (change it to 15, 45 or 60, or turn it off).
        4. End the session when you are done and take the 5-minute break. The eyes nap with you.

Pomodoro timer online: 25, 50 or 90 minutes

The Pomodoro Technique, created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, splits work into 25-minute blocks with a short break after each. Pick 25 min for a classic Pomodoro and take the 5-minute break when it ends. If 25 minutes feels too short to get into a task, 50 or 90 minute blocks work the same way. When your planned time is up the eyes look proud and a chime plays, and you can keep going or stop.

Body doubling online, without a video call

Body doubling is working while someone else is present. Plenty of people, many of them with ADHD, find it easier to start and stay on a task that way, which is why virtual co-working rooms exist. They need a schedule and a camera. Focus gives you the feeling of being watched with neither: the eyes look at you, react when you leave the tab, and cheer when you hit your goal. It is not a person, and it does not pretend to be. It is a low-effort nudge you can start in one tap at 2 a.m.

A study timer for homework and exams

Tag sessions as Study, set a daily goal (30 minutes to 3 hours) and watch the ring fill. A streak counts every day you focus for at least a minute, and a free streak shield each month covers the day life gets in the way. See where your week went by tag, and keep the screen awake while you revise.

        Questions

        Is this focus timer free?

Yes. The timer, the eyes, brown noise, check-ins, the daily goal ring, streaks and the 5-minute break are free with no sign-up and no time limit. Tensorust Plus ($2.99 a month or $14.99 a year) adds sync across devices, more eyes and sounds, full history and insights.

        What is body doubling?

Body doubling means working with someone else present, so it is easier to start and keep going. Many people with ADHD use it. Here the someone is a pair of eyes on your screen that watch you work, so you get the nudge without a video call.

Can I use it as a Pomodoro timer?

Yes. Pick 25 minutes for a classic Pomodoro, or 50 or 90 for longer blocks, then take the 5-minute break when it ends. You can also run it open-ended and just stop when you are done.

What happens if I switch tabs?

The eyes notice. When you come back mid-session they look surprised, then suspicious, and the session counts it as a tab switch. Nothing is blocked; it is a nudge, not a lock.

        Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit the page is saved on your device, so it opens and runs with no connection. You can also install it like an app from your browser menu.

        Where is my data stored?

In your browser, on your device. We do not see your sessions. If you turn on Plus sync, a copy is stored with your Tensorust account so your other devices get it, and you can delete it any time.

        Is there an iPhone app?

Yes, our iPhone app Minder does the same thing with extras like a Lock Screen timer and widgets. App Store purchases and web Plus are separate.

        Why brown noise?

Brown noise is a deep, steady rumble that covers background sound without being distracting. Some people find it easier to focus with it on. It is made live in your browser, no download.

        On iPhone

Minder on the App Store is the original: a Lock Screen and Dynamic Island timer, widgets, Siri, and the eyes notice when you pick the phone up. If you bought anything in Minder, you keep it there; web Plus is a separate subscription.
