XcodeGen
Short answerXcodeGen generates an Xcode project file from a short project.yml, so the project is readable text instead of a hand-edited .xcodeproj.
Why it matters
No merge conflicts in project files, and you can create an iOS project without opening Xcode, which matters if you do not have a Mac.

Every one of our app repos has a project.yml; the CI job runs XcodeGen before building.
