   402 means the account is out of credits and 429 is a rate limit: neither is an outage. A 5xx from one model while others work is usually that model's upstream provider.

What to do while OpenRouter is down

When OpenRouter is down, calls through openrouter.ai fail even though the model providers behind it may be fine. Calling a provider directly works if you have its key.

   Pass a models list and OpenRouter tries the next one when the first fails.
